Radon Awareness

November 27 2025

Did you know radon exposure is linked to lung cancer? In fact, radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer in people who do not smoke.  Radon is a naturally occurring, invisible, odourless, tasteless and radioactive gas. Although it arises naturally from under the ground, radon gas is often drawn up and concentrated inside buildings to unnaturally high and cancer-causing levels in indoor air.

The good news is you can do some things to reduce risk in your home.

Home radon detectors are available for loan by local libraries, or you can purchase your own.
